What is the U.S. Army like?

What is the U.S. Army like? Do they pay for college? What Jobs are in the Army? Can I do police work in the Army? If there are any soldiers who recently joined the Army, please tell me what it's like. And what Jobs are available? Will the Army toughen me up and get me in shape? BTW i am 17 years old and still in high school. I have one year left.
